Contributor Jake Raby ...

An FYI from Kathy Jacobs (VW Trends) on Jake Raby (MassIVe Type IV) in the ShopTalk Forums' Type 4rum:

Quote:
Maybe some of you don't know, but Jake's Dad is having heart problems. He has already had 2 open Heart Surgerys, so this one isn't looking good.
Today 9-26 I talked to Jake on the phone. He is still here, but this one surgeon said he "might" do the 3rd open heart surgery on him after he views some things of his. If he does, he only has a 25% chance of living!
Jake said that only one blood vessel is feeding his heart and it is 40 % blocked. Another one is completely blocked while the other one is falling apart.
If that doctor will not do the surgery, then they will have to go in there and try to open the vessels, or something of that nature.
So Jake is ok, but standing by his father, like he always has. You all keep him and his family in your prayers and If I hear anything else I will let you know.

If any of you have sent him emails or tried to call, he will not be doing any of that till maybe next week. So you know that he isn't ignoring you.

Thanks for the concern guys, it really makes me feel better.
I brought my dad home today, he is doing okay, but they were unable to cure the problem, only make him hurt a litle less, for a little longer amount of time.

he had gotten to a point where if he thought too hard, and his heart rate increased that the blood flow was inadequate, and he had pain, this was getting almost unbearable, so he finally decided to get it gone into once again.

Ultimately he needs a 3rd bypass surgery, but no surgeon will do it, says that it is almost insane to attempt, as he has no more veins to rob, there is a ton of scar tissue from the previous surgeries, and that it too would only help for a short while, and be a real long recovery period. They did a angioplasty and inserted one stent into the only artery that was repairable, today he is feeling better already...but we don't know how long it will be good for, especially with the fast pace of his heart disease.

If anyone triued to reach me I'm sorry, just try back Monday, business as usual, and wide open. Thanks again for your prayers and concern, they were much appreciated.
