Installing driver side carpet: The steering gear
In the passenger compartment, the steering has a couple of joints in it, one is directly through the driver-side carpet. I'm about to replace the carpet; is there a simple way to replace the carpet that goes around the steering shaft that's underneath the dash?
Thanks for your input to solve my small problem. Mark |

I think the simplest way is to unhook the lower universal joint on the steering shaft and slip the hole in the carpet over it. Then bolt the U-joint back on again.
