Accelerator pedal sticking

When push down on the pedal it just stays there. I checked PP tech articles and found the pedal cluster assy pic, spring for brake and clutch but not for the accelerator. How does the accelerator go back up, with the help of the little springs on the carbs? Am I missing a some piece.

There is no spring for the accelerator at the pedal assembly. The return is done by the spring on the throttle body.

The possible problems are the hinge that is inside the rubber at the base of the pedal, the bushings at the bellcrank in the pedal assembly, the cable is goobered up, or the throttle body/carb(s) are hanging up or missing a spring.

There is a big ol' return spring on the throttle body for cars with the FI, so there's a chance that the springs on your carbs aren't strong enough.

The first thing I would do though is replace your throttle cable with the TerryCable throttle cable that Pelican sells. My accelerator was sticky too, but once I put the TerryCable in it was all cleared up.

If that doesn't work, you might consider adding an auxiliary spring to the carbs as a helper. Try the TerryCable first though, I'll bet that fixes it. Oh, and be careful not to cross up the clutch cable and the throttle cable. It's not a good thing when the engine revs every time you step on the clutch.

Make sure the throttle cable isn't wrapped around the clutch cable.....it happens.

I prefer OEM throttle & clutch cables.....a strong preference.

I torqued off the threaded end of two new OEM throttle cables without needing much force at all before I bought the re-enforced TerryCable. I'm not going near an OE throttle cable again, the threaded end that mounts near the throttle body is way too weak. The thing snapped with less than one ft-lb of torque tightening it.

Plus, the TerryCable cleared up all sticky-ness with my accelerator pedal. Just one person's experience.

Did you "test out" the pedal with the pedal board removed? The pedal board has a stop on it to prevent the pedal linkage from being over torqued. If you did, you may have bent the pedal arm assembly and that it now sticking/hanging up on the tunnel.

Definitely check the cables to see if they are wrapped around each other. Classic symptom for this: Press the clutch and the engine speeds up.
