Philinjax is Awesome - Engine is OUT!
Many, many thanks to Phil Sparta (Philinjax) for driving over 2 hours from Jacksonville to help me drop the motor in my beast.
It took us a few hours, but Phil new all the tricks! Everything went flawlessly. He's a heckuva guy and a heckuva a 914 nut! Here we are with the guts to my car removed! ![]()

Hey Phil, I see why you relagated THAT T-shirt to garage duty. I bet the Porsche T-shirts are hanging nicly pressed in the closet waiting for a "formal" event.
![]() Karl, congrats on the successful extraction - now get that big motor in there so you don't have to "drive" your living room anymore! |

James,
Years ago I was a Ferrari fan but, after several years of wishing for the real thing, I finaly recognized my financial limitations and opted for the 914 car, the only car I know of that shares major parts with Ferrari. You know what those parts are, right? Phil |

And if you really want to do a comparison, our VW parts are better quality than their Fiat parts!

Ummm, actually... The Ferrari calipers are a little different from 914-6 calipers. They're "upside down" (bleeder and inlet are swapped). Not sure about piston sizes. The 308 guys a while back were buying up real 914-6 rear calipers as "cheap" replacements for thiers. (Ever priced a real Six rear caliper? It's only cheap compared to a Ferrari part....)
The 308 is one of the cars that has a $10,000 annual service. No, that's not the total for the year, that's just how much the "annual service" generally runs to at the dealer. YOUCH!!!! --DD
