Filling the void between tailights

I have 2 reflectors, 1 cut down, 1 not. I was trying to figure out which looks best.

Still undecided, but I was curious if anyone has seen the engine lid letters mounted back there? If not, might help me decide to go that route.
If so, any pics out there?

I'm starting to like the attached look.... Porsche crest in the middle and 914 script on the rigjht. Of course, you lose your trunk lock, but if you cover it with a reflector, it's the same thing.

I think the Porsche logo really finishes the back.

At least when you blow past other cars on the highway and they don't recognize the type of car, hopefully the Porsche crest will get the point across...

I like that. Still thinking about the lettering. I was trying CG and photo manipulation. Does not do any justice. Probably operator error and lack of CG expertise.

I remember hearing about someone who used one of the european emblems - PORSCHE/VW/914 and removed the VW emblem part and replaced it with a hood crest (I believe it was the smaller 356 one). I'll bet that would look great. Anybody remember that? Got pictures?

This thread inspired me to go out and tinker around with the letters last night. How can you get them off the grill without destroying them? They appear to be attached by a rivet, with the post being part of the letter itself. I can't see how they could be removed without damage. Is there a trick??

No factory Porsche that I have ever seen had its crest on its rear....well maybe a couple 914/6 GTs...

Wait till you start hearing the wisecracks about what a 'backwards' P-car the 914 is...

The letters should be held on with "speed nuts". You might be able to unscrew them (they're little flat bits of metal with an H-shaped hole in them) or you might be able to pry them off.

Warning: Prying them off often results in breaking off the post they are on. Then you have to figure out how to re-attach them afterwards...

I saw a car (or pic) somewhere recently that had the P-O-R-S-C-H-E letters across the rear edge of the rear trunk lid (kinda like on the early 911s).

Then you could drill a hole in a hood crest and put it right in the center over the trunk lock (or use a solenoid and ditch the chrome button).

Then put a big VW crest off a Bus on the front lid

I have one on my car, and don't especially like it (IMHO), but I can't remove it or else I'll have a bunch of little holes left behind

Anyways, Ottos has a few in the back room, www.ottosvenice.com also they turn up on ebay from time to time.

I put my two up on Ebay. I have decided to try the lettering. Someone told me that the one I have listed as "UN-CUT" actually is "CUT-DOWN".

Is there any peticular evidence of one being cut-down? What does an original look like?

I'm not a huge fan of this reflector either. But as has been said, the residual holes would be a bummer to have to deal with. I like the nice clean look of the letters against honest paint.

However, I have kinda fantasized about have the reflector panel back-lit..........I dunno............guess maybe I'm still after that blonde cheerleader from High School......................

Here it is. It is a European VW/Porsche 914-6 emblem, from which i cut off the VW logo and replaced it with a Porsche one, what else? Backgroun painted satin black «à la 916».
