Early 914 ignition switch wiring

I am replacing my ignition switch on my 1970 914 4. I noticed this unfamiliar type of wire in my wire harness going to my old ignition switch. My new switch wiring does not have this wire. Here is a pic of the wire. Can anyone tell me what it is and do I need it.

Is that a wire? Looks more like a flat piece of paper?

It looks like a long flat copper stream in some type of see through wrap.

Early 914 ignition switch

How does the Buzzer connector look and where does it connect in the ignition housing?

Looks like the wrap that goes around the wiring loom you will see more of it on the wires off the fuseboard, least that's whats on my car.
Don't worry it isn't wire,not needed.

But it connects to a pin in the electrical 12 pin connector under the dash.

if I recall there was 2 option for the ignition (with and w/o the buzzer circuit). I am guessing your original switch had the clear ground broke off from the switch and your new replacement did not have the buzzer option.

That flat copper in a clear cover is the ground for the ignition key buzzer. It attaches in the mechanical section of the ignition key lock mechanism. This diagram should help:
