Can you get us a better picture? This one is out of focus.

I don't see any points, here, unless the thing at 12 o'clock is the pivot for them. I see an electronic module at about 7 o'clock (the white block). Was there something on the distributor shaft under the rotor? Like a disk of some sort?

Look for labels on the disk and on the electronic module; those are almost certainly a points replacement gizmo of some kind. Three popular ones are Pertronix, Compufire, and Crane. (The Crane one has a module that extends both above and below the disk, so it probably isn't that.)

Tip: Don't leave the key on without the engine running for more than ~30 seconds at a time. That can burn up the points-replacement gizmo. Though the "Pertronix II" purports to have solved that.

Yes the disc that was on the distributor shaft is in the pic at about 1:00. No markings on the disc. Is there any way to tell if this thing is bad? Should I just proceed with checking dwell? And then on to ting.
Thanks for the help!

For the most part, the points-replacement things either work, or they don't work. In rare instances, they work intermittently. But I have yet to hear of one producing a weak spark leading to a drop in power...

Dwell is not adjustable with a points-replacement gizmo.

Beru plug wires should be fine. I know they fit the 2.0 engine better than the (commonly available) Bosch kit do.

Probably, if they fit your plugs and such. The ones I used to get did not fit the 2.0 motor very well, though.
