K&N filter systems for 2.0

Greetings all, I have stumbled across a K&N filter system for 2.0 914's. I have a similar system on my truck and love it but am not experienced with the outcome of the system on teeners. This system replaces the entire air intake box, attaching directly to the throttle body. Air dependent hoses have barb attachments on the body of the system. They claim a boost of 8-15 hp. Not bad for $100.

Any comments?

Thanks,

Scott

Ha ha...

I dyno tested a stock 2.0 with and without the air cleaner and picked up 3hp without it.

I dyno tested a stock 2.0 with a header and K+N filter in the stock housing and and picked up 4hp from the stock air cleaner and filter. The same car without the air cleaner assembly picked up another 1hp.

Ask for the dyno sheets. They are full of Sh_t up to their eyebrows.

There is NO way a air cleaner (alone) can do this. Welcome to Ebay.

If this is what you are looking at, I believe that others here have built their own with PVC. I'm sure someone will chime in soon.

That's what I was referring to. Couldn't get the pic posted. Would be interested in folks thoughts on that intake system.

Thanks again,

Scott

It looks cool.

The biggest increase I have see:

Moving the snorkel of the factory air cleaner around so it picks up a little cooler air from the drivers side of the engine compartment where it is less cluttered.

Who am I ?? Buy it and do some dyno pulls and report back to us.

Had to stop and think.. I dont care if you buy or not... LOL

Paul.. how many people do you think actually hit your "search" button ??

I'm sure a lot of people have tried it at least once. How many times did you hit it?

Hi Mark,
This topic came up about a month ago. Here's a link to the thread:
K&N Air filter worth the $40-$50

There is a K&N drop-in replacement filter. I doubt if it is worth doing. Maybe 1hp if you are lucky, and read the zillion posts about potential increased particulate intake and make your own judgement before you spend your $50.

Also for anybody who cares, PCA & POC stock-ish classes (track events) usually require you to run an unmodified factory airbox. You can use the drop-in K&N or no filter element at all if you want, but not the full "snorkel" setup like the pic above.

BTW I think I'm gonna run the ITG reticulated foam filters on my six. I have K&N's now on the IDF44's on the 4-banger.

Doesn't sound like it's really worth it.

They are $63 Canadian here, that means that in US dollars, they are cheaper in Canada, go figure that out .

Like I posted above.. to stay legal with the classes.. flip the snorkle portion of the air cleaner around and pick up a little cooler air. This is just legal in the stock classes.

I think the K+N for the stock setup is fine.
