911 combo gauge

Hi can anybody tell me if the 911 oil temp/pressure gauge will work on a 914? I already have two separate gauges for this but would like to tidy it up. If so is it a direct fit and plug and play or are there mods required? Also is there a preferred 911 year?

It does fit.

There is no oil pressure sender in the 914 engine--the existing sender is just a switch, turning the "idiot light" on or off. There are pressure senders available; get the "dual sender" so you run both the light and the gauge.

Some 914s have temp senders in the "taco plate" (the left-front sump plate), but some do not. Adding one cleanly can be a bit or a challenge unless you get the stock parts. Most 914s have a wire to carry the signal for the temp sender, but not all do.

You need to make sure that you get senders that match your gauges, unless you can remember to ignore any actual numbers on the gauges.

You may need to run a wire for the temp gauge signal; you will need to run one for the pressure gauge signal.

You will lose your fuel gauge, unless you make other provisions. (E.g., a "triple gauge", or aftermarket fuel gauge, or re-locating the stock one somehow.)

Thanks Dave, I do have the dual sender and a taco plate sensor. So just wondering if the readings will be correct or do the sensors need to be changed out? and if so are these available?

Depends on which sensors you have. I'm not sure which range the stock temp sensor covers; if it is the same range as the 911 gauge (same temperature/resistance curve) it should be at least close. The oil pressure sender will have a pressure/resistance range, and it will have to match the gauge if you want correct readings.

The good news is that the range of resistance seems to be pretty standard, at least for some of the more common VDO senders. So if your sender is (for instance) a 350F sender, there's a good chance it matches with a 0-350F gauge; and a 5-bar (0-75 PSI) pressure sender should match pretty well with the 911's 5-bar gauge.

You still have the fuel gauge problem, though.

I have a similar question. I have a 914 -4, 2.0 engine in my 1966 912.
The gauge is a 911 combo gauge euro
911 641 103 29
that has 1- 10 bar of oil pressure

Which sender should I use? This is where I need to put the dual sender


Lastly - what do I need to adapt the fitting I have now to accommodate the sender.
