What is this engine from?
I spend a lot of time on the 911 tech forum but I am thinking about adding a 914 as a playmate for my SC. I have located a decent '76 with a 2.0 engine that is not original. It has a single carb that I will ditch for original FI or go with dual carbs. Advise is welcome. The # on the engine is GC003770. The GC is correct for 75-76 Porsche. But according to a couple of sites the numbers are out of range. ???? I think it is Porsche and not a VW van engine but I need to be sure. Thanks for any help you can provide.

GC code engines were only used in 914s. You have yourself a 75-76 2.0 914 engine. It should have the three-intake-stud heads, possibly with air injection ports.

Basically all 4100 1976 models and probably 3000+ 1975 cars would have this engine.

I have found this site: Porsche 914 914-6 and 916 VIN and Engine Numbers P914 to be an excellent source for vin and engine numbers for specific years
