Price differences - voltage regulators?
I think the voltage regulator on my 912E is dying.
I'm driving (10 hours) to/from the club race at Watkins Glen at the end of May and it would probably wise to carry a spare. What's the difference between the; Hella @ $35.25, Beru @ $30.00, Bosch @ $235.75 and finally the Porsche OEM @ $267.25? (prices are from our host) What is the board's recommendation? Thanks in advance. Bill K

Well, all of those are at least decent brands in general. I'd avoid the OEM unless you need the original look for some reason (e.g., concours). I'd also not bother with the Bosch since it's almost as expensive as the OEM one.
Either of the cheaper ones should work. That said, I have a NAPA house-brand solid-state regulator in my 914. It's adjustable through a little potentiometer on the bottom, and doesn't have any electromechanical contact points inside to wear out.... --DD
