Yup...Another No-Start Thread!

My ’87 NA was delivered to me (by trailer) two months ago during a blizzard. Air temp about 15F, but car started right up (plugs/wires/rotor/cap/battery replaced within the last year).

I did not drive the car, but put it on my lift for a bit of work before warmer weather. Battery remained disconnected for about six weeks.

Work performed: replaced motor mounts, t/belt, b/belt, ps belt, and alt/ac belt. Other minor stuff…like hood struts, remove and rehab front valance, etc.

Just got the car on the ground, and while it turns over great, it will not start. I do get just a bit of a tach bounce. Was thinking that as motor has been lifted slightly with new motor mounts…this might have affected reference sensors - but they (and their connections/wires) look fine.

I tried out my spare DME relay - but this made no difference.

A bit of confusion about spark plug wire locations on rotor, but have installed as per Lindsay Racing info: looking at rotor cap from front - plug wire #4 goes into upper left terminal, plug #2 into upper right, plug #1 into lower right, and plug #3 into lower left.

My gut tells me that something is off with the distributor rotor/cap, or fuel is not being delivered properly. Cannot smell fuel after several ten second cranks.

This car had been well cared for prior to my purchasing it…and I really don’t know where to start with this.

First, try a puff of starting fluid to see if fuel helps it catch.
If not, check the ignition system:
Check the rotor, is it on tight?
Check to see if it points at #1 when #1 is at TDC compression
Make sure it turns with the cam
Check for spark with a spark checker or some gadget that makes the spark jump 10mm

No fuel no start! check to see if plugs are wet if dry check the fuel pump fuse and that there is power there. Alarm module will cut power to the DME if installed.
