Maybe Clutch Problem???

My Clutch pedal has suddenly fell. I mean, I have to push it almost to the floor to get it to disengage. It still works fine. This happened all at once. I don’t see any fluid leaks and the brake fluid level is ok. Has this happened to any one before? Oh it’s on a 83 944. Thank’s Jody.

check whether there is fluid in the pipes or master cylinder you could also check (under the car near the slave cylinder) under a rubber plug in the clutch housing how far the little pin (cylinder) is moving and how much..
need more info?? drop a mail

good luck

greetings from holland

I have the same clutch problem. Mine falls all the way to the floor board when I push on it lightly. I have to pull it back with the tip of my foot to switch gears. It's very annoying. When I turn on my heater it seems to work fine. I checked the pedal's mechanism I didn't see any leaks I didn't adjust anything on it however. I don't have a clue on how to fix this. Does anyone?

Thanks,

Jaime.

A mechnic said it was bad cup seals in the slave or master cylinders. it is funny because the problem comes and go's. Some times I have a full pedle some times not.
Oh well to the parts store I Go & Going & Going.
Just like the pink rabbit.

cup seals heh? I looked for them in haynes book but they are not very specific. They only show you how to replace the clutch!!!!
Maybe I'm overlooking a bit. I don't know. In any case, I'll try the cup seal bit....
Thanks.....

Ok, so I get in the car this yesterday morning, and push in the clutch. It fell to the floor (Wow!). Raised the hood and the brake fuild resavor is empty. worked fine on the way home last night.
I took the slave a master cylinders off and found dirt. the slave's outer dust seal was bad letting stuff in the cylinder. the master cylinder was leaking or should i say seaping fuild from the outter seal. Ordered new seal kit's. Only about $40.00 for both. I'll let you know what happens from here.

Merry Christmas all.

So there I was, Christmas eve, looking over at my poor 944. I opened the hood and decided to take a look at my reservoir. Guess what? Fluid had gone down just an inch. I checked the hose that leads to the master cylinder but I found no cracks or leaks then I checked the master cylender it self for leaks from the seals, but none to my eyesight. I jacked the car up and traced the fluid line to the slave cylender and voila! My clutch peep hole had no dust cover, hmmm! And guess what? My slave cylinder had a small but noticeable steady leak. I took off the mother and pulled off the rod I notice the rubber seal was broken, the rod had evidence of rust (maybe from the water getting in since there was no cap in the peep hole). I removed the piston that seemed to stop half way due to rust build up in the chamber. And I said to myself "I'll be dip in horse pokie" I called the parts shop and ordered a new slave cylinder. After an hour installing it and bleeding the lines. The clutch seems to work fine. There's a very little play and my clutch feels like brand new. ???? It is now Sunday the 26th and the car is sound asleep. I hope the clutch pedal works on Monday morning when I have to get my butt off to work. And so the end of my ordeal has come to an end.

Thank you all for your time.

Jaime.

PS: Have a wonderful 2000!!!!
