happy with my cannon -- but it's out of your price range/capability. I do like the looks of the little Cannon digital ELPH or what ever it's called S320? -- very small, so you can take it anywhere -- they are a little over $200 bucks. I also recommend a bigger compact flash card -- get the one from LEXAR with the built in chip to use the jump flash cable -- very nice and the cost is not too much extra.

Its the S230. Great for point and shoot, has more than enough features for me, and the software is very intuitive. For taking around to get shots of your car, etc its great. Also- you mentioned using it for ebay. It does have a macro mode, which makes those up-close shots of small items for ebay very clear.
