				Bench testing Manual tranny....

Ok so I pulled the tranny out.... Now I would like to bench test it.... Under load and at higher gears ...horrible grinding sound from the rear of the tranny... So any ideas on how to spin the input shaft....

Sounds like you will need a very large bench that is bolted to the floor. Maybe you could use a starter motor. You will need to research this, but the speed of a DC motor is controled by the amps available. I can see many ugly posts that begin with OH CRAP in your future though.

Good idea, but you are thinking in reverse. Put it in gear, then spin the hubs where the CV's bolt to. Easier to do in higher gears. In 5th, you should be able to spin it with your hand - gives you something a little more substantial to grab onto than the input shaft. AFJuvat

Hey mother juvat.... Uhmmm I first thought that made sense... so I put an allen key in and spun it with a ratchet.... .... So I get noise where the Differential section is.....but couldn't that noise be because of the differential spiders are turning and working as one hub goes one way and the other ....u know. It is a rythmic clicking noise coming from the diff area.... I haven't spun it quick enough to get the grinding, gearing, watchamacallit sound you heard a week ago at the back of the tranny......... Maybe I'll put a drill on that allen key.... make it spin a little faster...
