My intermittent wiper control on my 924S doesn't do anything. The rest of the wiper controls seem to work OK so I don't suspect the switch yet. The relay seems like a good place to start. I've searched for information on this and didn't have any luck. I found a bunch of relays under the left dash but no schematic. Don't like pulling those things until I have to given how these components can get brittle. No testing procedure online for the relay either.
Does anyone have a spot to look for this stuff?

Well duh I checked the owner's manual ... it pointed me right to it.
Next stop: testing procedure. Not an especially expensive part but it doesn't make sense to replace it until I know it's failed.

I really am a pretty good guy to work with on this stuff. I promise to be a collaborative friendly 924S friend. After all it is the crossover from a 924 to a 944. I kinda belong to both sides.

for a schematic google "vol4-electrical.pdf" If the car has the 944/1 electrical system vs the 944/2 electrics I would just be guessing. However according to the host, the 944/2 relay doesn't fit a 944/1. Is it the same relay as your 911 and try a swap test?

OK, I energized the coil and tested for continuity on the two poles. One website I looked at said there should be continuity when the poles are energized but there was none. It said that the relay is bad when that happens. That may not be the only problem but it looks like it's one of them.

New relay but the intermittent still doesn't work. Switch in the stalk looked like it was making contact. I'm sure there's a way to test it. I found out the windshield control stalk is NLA. That leaves used or NOS.
Good news is that by replacing the turn signal stalk, which IS still available, the high beam switch works fine as well as the turn signals themselves. Given that the two stalks work in tandem, I was concerned that it wasn't going to help. Glad it did fix the other problems. Anyone know of someone who refurbishes those wiper stalks ... or other possible solution? It's a pretty important part for Porsche to just stop making them but they have.

Don't hold me to it, but I believe that VW part 251953519C is an exact replacement for the 924S wiper switch. Good luck, gb

on the end of the stalk it looks identical. Can't really be sure until I buy it. It says it's a URO part and it's available on Amazon for $30.93 Prime or about one-fourth what I would have paid for a Genuine part shipped. Definitely worth the gamble.
I'll let you know if it's the right one. Thanks for the help, gb!

We're curious to know as well, we currently show that Wiper Switch 251 953 519C fits 1980-1991 Vanagon and Transporter. https://apaindustries.com/parts/1958
Perhaps it's the same, or is almost the same and can be made to work on the 924S?

The windshield washer system has never worked. The pump was bad and I replaced it. It now works. The switch in the column stalk (that I'm trying to replace for the intermittent feature to work) actuates the washer pump fine. The plastic T and elbow on the top of the fluid tank were bad and I replaced them. I also replaced the blue cap too.

Haven't found the answer to this one yet. Thanks.
BTW the new wiper control stalk is on the UPS truck to deliver today.

The URO wiper control part was in fact similar but not the same. I tried to upload the images but I can never get it to work on Pelican. The arm was longer and at a different angle, there were only three settings so I suspect that it didn't include the intermittent stop, both plugs on the car would plug in but the prongs were in different locations on the control arm.
Given how similar they are and it's NLA from Porsche, URO could probably duplicate it for the transaxle owners crowd.

Sourced the missing hose that goes into the tank and viola the washer system now works. Too bad the PET didn't show there was a hose there.
I could have avoided being such a bother for you guys. ![]()
