First came the 86 944 and i love it,
Then i got greedy and wanted more so i got the 87 951 which is great. I recently came across an N/A 944 wich i like to keep for a spare eng or for parts. I Wonder in the event my 951 eng goes bad what parts i need to replace in this engine in order to fit. Also i like to replace the turbo stage so i can get 300hp instead of 220hp. What i need to replace besides the turbo in order to achieve that and where can i find a chip or used one. Thank you Guys |

I know very little about turbo's but here is the little I know. 951 has sodium filled valves and lower compression pistions, so you might as well rebuild the whole motor.
You are looking for 80 hp from a turbo? That seems extreme. I am not sure you can get that much, but even if you do it will probably fry your motor inside of 10,000 miles. The boost required to make that much hp is probably too much for the engine to handel long term. Just my .02

You won't hit > = 300rwhp with the stock turbo.
You can hit 260-290 rwhp... with a chip set, MAF and boost controller with the stock turbo running at 15 psi....... for a quick fix check out www.gururacing.net they are said to have the best chips for a stock turbo on the market. If you want to be in the 300 rwhp club you will still need the above mentioned but will need to move to a larger turbo, larger injectors.....Many options available.......... Check out lindsey racing, guru racing, speed force racing, huntley racing............... The kit I am getting does not have a website yet unfortunately (Vitesse). Its a complete kit. So it may seem a little more up front, but as a total package its a great value!!! and the dyno numbers are just ...........how shall we say????? INSANE.... Will let you know how good it really is when I get it and install in a month or 2. Good luck. *** your other question about swapping parts over from the NA to the turbo incase you toast the turbo. Nothing much you can use from the NA engine so its not worth it.
