Nitrous Questions Answers
awilson40: I get mine filled at a local speed shop and it costs $35 for a 10lb fillup. I'm still in the experimental phase, so I've only used it in real short bursts. Even so, after ten full 0-75 sprints, and who knows how much I lost due to loose fitting leaks during the intial install and set up, I just weighed the bottle and it still says 22 pounds (15 pounds for the empty bottle, means I only burned 3 out of 10 pounds)!
If you go to the NOS website www.nosnitrous.com, they list by state dealers who have refill stations. The 05123 is the right kit for the 240sx. It seems Zex kits (www.zex.com) are pretty popular with the Japanese car crowd. It's a little more pricey, but Honda drivers are always selling them used for cheap on Ebay, as they step up to the Venom kit ($1,000), which is a lot more sophisticated. Otto: my home email is scottewid@att.net. I check that once every couple days or so, so don't think I'm ignoring you if I don't respond right away. You can get me at work at scott.young@prudential.com, but I prefer to use work sparingly for personal business. Feel free to use it for a quick note every one in while though. As for the price: The list price on carparts.com is $519, but I went through www.amazing-bargains.com, which offered a carparts.com discount of $100 for first-time buyers on purchases over $250. I just checked and don't see that offer anymore. It's now down to $30 discount on $100 and over purchases. I guess a lot of people were taking advantage of it. $489 is still pretty good though, but you might be able to get a slightly better deal at summitracing.com, cdsracing.com, or a used setup on Ebay. porscheboi928s: I'm using the 34 jet, which NOS claims is 60hp. The kit also has a 36 jet, which they say will provide 70hp. Maybe the novelty has yet to wear off, but I can't imagine ever needing to try anything higher! I took it out last night and the roads were wet from a recent rain, and I literally COULD NOT use it in second gear (haven't gotten the guts to kick it in in first yet....you think it would be OK?) because of the total loss of traction and wheelspin at the 1-2nd shift. Even in third, I was getting copious wheel spin! As for your mods, all I can say is you're a madman! I'm worried about adding 70hp to my 143 mill, and you're going to squeeze 300whp out of 2.5 liters, with no other reinforcing mods!!!! What size nitrous jet is that?!! Aren't you at all worried about something giving out? I can't even imagine that, but I guess I'm still basking in the glow of my own modest hp gains....talk to me in 3 months and I'll probably be trying to figure out how to get up to the 125hp jet!! Good luck! |

Check this out: NOS has a nitrous system designed specifically for the 944 Turbo. Only $513.
