Porsche Crest Questions regarding my '84 944

Questions regarding my '84 944 . . .

First of all, I have a small crack in my windshield that will probably grow till it needs replaced. Any ideas where I can get a replacement and what the cost might be?

Second, from my understanding, the spare tire needs to be filled with a compressor that came with the car. I have no compressor. Is there a spare tire/rim combination from some other make/model (I'm looking for a small temporary spare) that would work?

Lastly, I continue to have an off-balance-tire feeling in the driver side rear (I have had the tires rebalanced and rotated and still no change), any thoughts?

Thanks for your help.

Mert,

Sorry, all I can help you on is the spare. If your original compressor is missing, Go to Wal Mart, etc. and buy a 15.00 chepo, just make sure that it fits into your cigarette lighter. (I don't know about the early 944, but my early 924 had some crazy shallow lighter that wouldn't work with a radar detector plug.) Or, you can buy one from a supplier/dealer--I think my replacement compressor was 90.00--it even has a nifty carrying case. If the chepo compressor doesn't fit into your lighter, buy a can or 2 of Fix-a-flat(enough to inflate the temp. spare)--of course you will not be able to deflate and re-use it, but it will get you out of an initial jam.

Once the crfack gets large enough, call your insurance company to get the glass replaced. Windshield is readily available from most glass dealers.

Any air compressor available at an auto parts store can be used to fill the tire. you can pick themn up for around $12.

Tire: Bad CV joints or your wheel bearing is going out.
