Replacing Nippondenso With Sanden
Began working on the conversion this weekend. I'm running into the problem of an unused ear on the compressor (it has 8 and I only use 4) interfering with the sway bar. Some of you have made this conversion. Did you encounter the problem?
I could always cut the ear off the aluminum case but then I get to thinking about warranty.

Hey,
Have run into the same problems doing the conversion for customers. Depending on year\diameter of sway bar, you can go anywhere from doing a little grinding to cutting the whole thing off. I'm a little paranoid, so I cut\grind the absolute minimum possible to get it to fit. Have had to return one in the past - as long as there aren't marks on the case itself (actual body of the compressor) they have taken them back under warrenty with ears removed. AFJuvat

Thanks for info. I'll grind it this week.
Also, with regard to the fitting for the condenser, how does that do? I could refrain from cutting the metal line at the condenser and instead use a male/male connector of sorts with two clamps. That way I would used my original hose and a piece of the one they supply. What do you think? Do you cut the metal line and use their fitting when you do the conversion? Thanks, Lawrence
