If you do an engine swap put a LT1 in it. The Chevy engine is perfect and many people have done it. There is also lots of documentation on it and kits you can buy. Its about 5k to do the whole conversion. And for horse ...well depends on what ur oging to do to the engine...i bet you can get it up to 650 hp ...but im sure 350 would be more your style.

How about putting a rebuilt 87 2.5L in? Plenty of documentation on that as well.

the ls1 wont fit.
the lt1 will please most hp/torque mongers. and either trans but the 951 has a better ratio. my 944/lt1 has been rolling for about 2 yrs and have not broken a single trans, the next step is installing the powerhausII torque-bias diff (new $900). it just spins the hell out of 1 tire when im at the a x and looks silly, (althou quite fast when controlled ).
