More ? speedometer/odometer

How, do I remove the cable that comes from behind the speedometer and goes to the driver side wheel. I know how fast am driving but, stopped recording the total milege.

Sorry, No,I did not stop recording milega , the gage stopped working, I know how fast am going, because that portion is working.

It is probaly inside the speedo, I think there is an aftermarket repair kit out there with improved gear.

To remove the cable you have to pop off the bearing cap on drivers side spindle to get at the cable retaining nut.

I removed the speedo, but is sealed, can not get inside to see what wrong with it, so now I do not, if is the cable or the gage

I've never gone inside a speedo, so I'm no help. Maybe you can do a search on the forum and get some info.

To access the inside parts you will need to romove the ring (Black) holding the plastic lens cover. Turn the speedo over and use a small flat tip screw driver to pry the edge of the ring away from the housing. It can be dificult to start. Only pry about 3/4 way around the ring. You will then be able to lift the portion you pryed away and then slide the ring off. When you reassemble the speedo you just press the edge back down. Do a search for "White face guages". Other members have writen good instructions for this.

Roadman, I did what you said, guess what, I got to work, small red gear
that sping the numbers around was out place. Thanks to you all guys.

Know I need more light in the cluster, and clock, any ideas?

Hey, all my dash lights are out..I suspect fuses. Where can I find out all the fuses in the box (my local library has nothing).

Even better, original owners manual and any book titles specifically on 924's?

i dunno if early 944 and 924 fuses/relays are the same though.
if you figure out what the problem with the instrument lights was can you post it? i have the same problem

Torico,
First check to see that ALL of your bulbs are working and you have good clean electrical conections. Second if you find a way to get more light in the instruments please let us all know. It's a common complaint. Glad your odometer is working.

regarding more light in gauges, i know there are some new replacement lights for motorcycle rear lights, and old trucks, and also for american car gauges. i am sure a search would reveal them, i have it stored on another computer. search the flashing brakelight(pulsating?) sites, they make some new hi intensity bulbs that draw less current and are cool.......xenon, halogen????????

I used Sylvania 2723 bulbs (standard is listed as 2721) to replace my instrument cluster bulbs. They are nominally higher wattage than the original bulbs but I don't have to have them on full brightness anymore.
