well the guys who fixed my brakes said my clutch is going soon, they said it wont engage until its almost all the way to the floor. How much is a new clutch and is this a DYI job?

There's a 20 piece clutch kit from pelican, it's $645.

uhh ..this aint no chevy. We have hydrolic clutches. I should engage at about the same point everytime. Now if you werent able the shift into other gears easy or you got tons of noise coming from the bell housing thatd be a dif story.

Neither does my 82 Corvette - it's an automatic... hmmm, since it is an auto, I guess the clutches inside actually are hydraulic...

I would reconfirm the diagnosis of a bad clutch with another shop before you bite the bullet for a new one.

Check your master and slave cylinder first. A failing cylinder or one that is adjusted incorrectly will cause strange pedal problems.

i dunno what they were saying, it feels fine to me. It wont engage until the pedal is almost all the way out. like a 3/4 of the way out.

That's OK. Was almost as big a pain as the 944 can be.

Still I miss the car. Had this enourmouse front bench seat and great heater. Was the best dating car for drive-ins.

Don't know if you saw it, but on Discovery American Hod Rod, they just rebuilt 56 Chevy they pulled out of the junkyard. They spent 8 weeks on it and redid everything. Looks very sweet.
