She's fine on the open road, goes like a dream.
Round town it's a different story, regardless of gear, clutch in or out, moving or not, most days at some point I get a whine. My girlfriend just thinks the car wants to go faster but I've had my S2 long enough to know that when she cries, she wants something! ![]() I thought it may be the fuel pump but the noise seems to come from the engine and it literally sounds like the car is whimpering like a dog would for some food or attention. Any ideas, or should I go to the pet store and get some scooby snacks? ![]()

oh noises, my pet peeve at the moment.
I know some whine noises can be caused by the pinion bearing (clutch)

Earlier 944s suffered from pinion troubles but this is supposed to be fixed by the time the S2 is released (and later Turbos)

Re: Another S2 'Noise' ?

again (unless I had an extra 3000 GPB) I would turn it off & tow it to a Porsche mechanic

Well it's been doing it for over a month now, and I've noticed that it was fine this morning, then i stopped to fill up and when I started again there it was.
The noise seems to be connected to the revs, but regardless of clutch and gear so my guess is it's not the clutch. Not even sure if it comes from the engine, it's one of those noises that just seems to come from everywhere. Doesn't seem to affect anything, it's just annoying... Mechanic scratches head and says, "no mate, not touching that one, why don't you get a honda?" I told him very politely to f**k off! It's insured against belt breaks etc. so I think I'll drive it to a dealer and part with £££££££££££££££££££££s They want £100 just to look at it (and breathe in deeply), and then another £100 per hour, to find out what the problem is. it's really best if you know the fault before you go to them!

Forget main dealers, the main dealer who used to service my S2 did a poor quality job and charged a fortune. Find a good independant Porsche specialist ( a few in Manchester I think). Try checking with the local Porsche club.
Example : last year main dealer replaced my starter. My independant noticed that one retaining bolt was missing as were two of the nuts retaining the cover over the connections. Mark
