Post Twin Turbo setup for 951?

Has anyone heard of an aftermarket twin turbo for the 951?

Its probably possible to run a smaller turbo, then a bigger secondary turbo. vis a vis the 3rd gen rx-7's. But i dont think a true twin turbo set up would be a good idea on a inline engine. Could cause some variation in cylinder pressure. And you'd have to use really small turboes cause you'd only have half the exhaust flow to spool them.

I would go with a Turbo/nitrouse combination.

Cheaper, and gives ya about the same effect.

You couldn't fit two turbos under the intake manifold either - you would have to change the location of the turbos. Most of the harcore Supra guys convert their cars to single turbos also. If you are concerned with response, these new turbos have great response. Look at some dyno charts for the garretts - they can reach full boost at less than 3500 rpm.

Agree with the posts, I've heard about people interested in them, but none that was actually made, or converted. Usually inline engines tend to have single turbos, unless they're sequential.

These new ceramic-ball bearing turbos spool times aren't that high either, specially the high end ones with exotic (very light) metals used for the rotating mass.

you dont want twin turbo unless you have 2 banks of cylinders. the way that the rx7,s get away with it with those little engines is because of the fact that they have long exhaust pulses. that is also why they have that strange sound. any rx7 guys looking for more performance convert to single turbos though as the twin setup is used to pre-spool the larger turbo to eliminate turbo lag, which they do a pretty good job of, as i am sure you know having owned one. there are lots of other ways to lessen turbo lag on these cars. a new wastegate is a step in the right direction. if you are really serious about reducing lag i would refer chris cervelli at technodyne racing as that is priority to them. MAF kits also reduce lag and spool up time on these cars dramatically.

thank for the input. yeah, i'm going to do everything feasible to lessen lag.

you're right about the wastegate; after i put in the boost enhancer which partially fixes porsche's weak setting, it made for noticably quicker boost. erick got his maf from technodyne i think; will be interested to see what he thinks.
