Question Rattle after installing test pipe and headers

I just installed my Bursch test pipe and headers. It sounds like crap. theres a slight rattle or maybe a rasp sound that is louder than the deep throaty sound. does anybody have any ideas????? all my bolts are tight and so are my hangers. i hope this isnt the way it supposed to sound

regards,
Brian

Brian, is it an NA?
Ours had the same problem. It can be two things: 1) your muffler is getting a lot more flow, now, so rusty bits are going to rattle in the breeze...
and 2) I would have advised you to go to a "crinkle pipe" or something similar, straight through, that would have had a dampening effect (glasspack, anything. - the crinkle texture bounce the sound a little) - the test pipes seem to produce a lot or resonance...
If it's too bad, start w/ new muffler.
BTW, headers are loud, anyway (thinner walls). We eventually went back to our stock manifolds and got our mid-range back...

I did that 2 months ago. The old muffler can not handle that much airflow. Some metal pieces are loose and cause the noise. To solve this, I weld old cat back on. Before doing this make sure your cat is still good. In my case, my muffler looks still good and no rust. It will be your choice either get a new muffler or get cat back.
You would not lose hp you can feel after you put cat back. Plus you make your car legal on the street.

I had a Toyota MR2. I took the cat off of it and it had the same problem. I also noticed that because of less back pressure there wasn't as much power at lower rpm's but it did seem to do better at higher rpm's. let me know if you experience the same effect. i am considering putting a test pipe on mine.

Question

i have an 84 944 n/a

im not sure if what i have is a test pipe or a straight pipe...whats the difference??

its made by bursch..ive noticed that it revs faster....mostly everybody has told me that it decreases low rpm power but ive noticed faster acceleration right off the line.

im gonna check out my muffler and see if i need to replace it....is there any way to check it??
