Question '78 Heater / A/C Fan problem

The heater / AC fan motor makes a constant growl when engaged. I read somewhere that this vintage motor was known for bad bearings. I have tried to remove the blower but it won't clear when trying to remove through the top (after taking off cover). Can anyone tell me how to remove the fan / Blower and then can anyone tell me where to get a good replacement without having to pay dealer prices for a new blower? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem with my 84 928S. I found the blower for sale here at Pelican for a whopping $400. I also read how to remove it and you have to take off the hood and the right windshield wiper.

Don't know how closely this relates to your blower, but I feel your pain. Let me know if you find a good source for used blowers.

You have to remove the dash to get the fresh air blower out. The AC blower is behind the kick panel below the glove box on the 924's, 944's and 924S's. Same square type dash.

I've heard that you can pull the AC unit and the center console and get to it also but have not had to try it -- yet.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?
