Still have that irregular idle problem...maybe AFM related?

Hey guys. The car is still fluctuating it's idle between 1200 and 1800rpm. After going over everything I check the voltage going to the AFM and got 5V. Which would be fine if this were a turbo, but it's not. The NA cars need 8+ volts, so says the Haynes manual. The AFM is from a '87 NA, same with the DME, so I'm not sure why I'm only getting 5V there. But anyway, could this have something to do with the car reving up and down at idle?

Thanks guys!

-Tony

Haynes manual electricals are for the early 944's. You need the WSM's for the post 85.1 cars. The 5 volts is correct for the post 85.1's. As well as the AFS from the post 85.1 car.

This is the complications you create from blending an older car's DME into an early 944 chassis with out adequate documentation.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

You have an 87 engine in that car....

1. PUll the throttle out . Make sure you have set the tps correctly. If you don't want to. You can loosen the tps and turn it both ways you will get an idea of what it does by doing this in the car.

2. Do you have an idle control valve..... if you do. When you set the idle you must short the test plug at b&C.

YOur idle is hunting for its idle.......
