Ok, I am back from Canada, and that means I am diving into a new project for the 924. I am going to try to clean and work over my fusebox and tie up 'loose ends' in the wiring harness.
_ My alarm was not working when I bought the car, and I really don't know much about it, I am thinking about removing it. One of the POs cut the siren wire, so it is not really useful to me. It is an Archer, and looks like it was supposed to have a wireless key. If not, how is it armed? _ Anyhow, it is wired into the rear window defogger on the hot side and into the fuel pump relay on the other (this may be why I have fuel pump fuse issues). How is this supposed to work? I am assuming that it is triggered by door opening, excessive motion, and ignition, but does anyone have more insight? _ Removing the fusebox is also proving to be a real hassle. The screw and the harness plugs came off easily, but I am not sure how to remove the relay wires and still be able to put them back on. Should I pull the wires from the relay mounts, or just remove the mounts from the fusebox? _ Lastly, when I had partly removed the box from it's cradle and looked behind it, There was a BIG RED WIRE drifting around unplugged, I will have a better Idea where it goes when I have the box removed completly, but I was curious if anyone had a picture or something that Might give me an idea of where it goes. I have a feeling it is respoinsible for much of the problems down there ![]()

There are so many different types of alarms out there its hard to say. You might see if Archer has a website maybe the manuals are online depending how old the alarm is. The alarm on the Dodge has a remote but is can be activated by pressing the flashing LED (its also a micro switch) then turning the key. The wire running to the rear defroster may actually connect to the rear hatch contact that is on the shock absorber. When the hatch is opened its makes contact with the shaft on the shock and provides power to the interior lights. Alot of alarms are wired into the interior lights. That way you dont need to add additional door sensors. When the interior lights come on its means a door is opened and alarm activates. Motion sensors are usually a small box mounted in the engine compartment. They ususally have a screw for adjusting sensitivity with a locking nut on it. You should also look for a contact for the hood. Its usually a single spring loaded pin that is pushed closed when you shut the hood.
As for cleaning the fuse pannel Lizard over on 924.org has done this you might want to send him a PM. Here are some pictures but they dont show much. I hope it helps. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the pictures Roger, unfortunitly, your 'G' terminals are not the same, so I have yet to find a home for that red wire.
_ The alarm is out, and I am rather glad. I may put the light back in at a later date to make it look like I have an armed security system. _ I took apart the fusebox like Lizard described, and found much rust and corrosion. If I can find a new one for a reasonable price, I will buy it, otherwise the box is in for a real rebuild. _ Following is a list of the wires that don't have homes. (also posted on the 924 tech specs thread) 1. A red/green wire that is not attached. It should belong to the right running lights, but they work, so I am not worried. 2. A grey/yellow wire that goes up through the firewall, might be for the foglamp option that I don't have. 3. A brown ground, seems to go on the terminal G9, but the wiring diagram shows that terminal as being empty. I am not sure where it goes to. 4. A larger red wire that comes in from the firewall, probably off the battery. It also seemed to be assosiated with the 'G' terminals, but I could not see a blade that had been connected at one time. All if the other connections on that section of the box are accounted for. This is the one that concerns me the most. _ I still am concered about those wires though.
