I was pulling out my DME today to check all the wiring running to it and it seemed fine, however, located right above it was this contraption...
There are 2 ceramic circular pieces that the wires all plug into and the wires are in terribly bad shape, look like they got very hot at one time. Can anyone tell me what this is and what it powers or controls? Thanks for any help.

I was told they are resistors for the blower motor...
If that's correct, what symptoms would my car be experiencing with the bad wires? Anybody?

only way wires really go bad are if they are cut or physically broken. if the outside insulation is melted and they touched you could short something though. if they are resisitors you can check to see if they get hot, if they do the wires are prolly good.

As I told you on Rennlist these are for the fans on the radiator. The resistor pack for the fresh air blower on on the blower under the back of the hood.
Get a copy of the factory workshop manuals. These can be found for free or up to $20 on eBay as PDF's on a CDR. There is also a Haynes manual for the 944's (and you thought they only make panty hose!). If you have contacts at a good garage then you might be able to get copies of the AllData or Mitchell's CDs.
