Fuse Box replacement question
I have to replace the entire fuse box on my car because there was a short in mine and one by one all the fuses are getting fried. Will and '85.5+ n/a fuse box be compatible with my '85.5 car? I'm not about to buy a new one for $400+ dollars from the dealer. Oh, and if anyone is selling one that would fit my car....please email/PM me. Thanks.

85.5 through 87 944 NA. Some of the sockets may or may not be there depending. You can take the sockets out and/or replace them.
Is there any pattern to the fuse failures? A particular area of the fuse box or certain devices possibly on the same harness?

Thanks a bunch! I did not notice any pattern to the fuse failures, although I can go back and check. First thing to go was the instrument cluster, and later i noticed the sunroof switch didn't work, and later none of the ventilation switches worked, and so forth. The car is at the shop right now, where it was diagnosed. Initially when the instruments went out I figured the grounds behind the cluster was the culprit, but when other electrical items started failing as well, that's when I suspected otherwise and took it to the shop. I guess my best ebt would probably be eBay and calling parts places to see if I can locate one of these.

""'85.5 944
Kalahari Beige/Brown 5-speed (are ya happy now SoCal? )"" Not as happy as you will be with better answers! As to the fuse failures: I'm a bit puzzled as the fuse/relay box feeds current to the devices through a multitude of wires and harnesses. To have as many failures as you report these have to have a pattern. Possibly the same harness that has damage on some point. Need more info.

If Pelican does not have it, try Parts Heaven. That is where I just got my new fusebox.

It seems that fuse number 18 (instruments) went out first, followed by fuse 17 (heating controls), My side marker lights then went out on the driver's side (fuse 40), and the sunroof switch does not work (fuse ? I don't think there is a 'sunroof' fuse.). Those are all the fuses that I know of, there could be more that are out. Looks like the failures of 17-18 are patterned, I don't know about fuse 40 though, unless it turns out to be not a fuse failure at all, just random bulbs going out. I wish I had the car at my place right now so I can look over it better, its at the shop right now.
