unfortunately the angle of the pictures don't do the car much justice. do you have a few better ones? looks o.k. though

Hey, blah blah blah; ok. Enough small talk.
Opinion: Body's in good condition. Paint looks clean. Interior is in great condition. Freshly vacuumed carpeting. lol. ... All and all, it's clean. The thing I found comical was that in the ad is says: "...ONLY 148160 MILES!" Holy Moly! Are you serious!? lol. Used car salesmen style. Drive safe. Bye.

"The thing I found comical was that in the ad is says: "
"...ONLY 148160 MILES!" When I bought my 944 back in 95 the ad in the paper read: Secondhand .... only 8,800 miles - superb condition £5,500 ...2 When I turned up at the shop to view it had 88,000 miles on it but the price didn't change when I pointed this out. For secondhand read seven owners. I still had her though (I managed to get my company to buy it instead of a co. car and a raise that year). Still going strong with almost 350,000 miles on the clock now and not a wisp of smoke in the exhaust.

""924S
Has the 944 drive train in 924 body, lighter, more aerodynamic and faster than a regular 944. The 88 models had a "sport" option available - these cars make excellent autocrossers and are worth more."" Is this out of a buyer's guide? You should be aware that the performance times of the 924S are just about identical to the 1983-84 cars, and just a bit lower than the 1989 2.7. The point they were probably trying to make is that a 924S is (marginally) quicker than a 944 from the same year... which is true.

The more I look at that car, the more I see the distinctive "lightweight" features. No cassette box/armrest, manual windows, all cloth interior, no floor mats (I wonder if the car came with mats new), one plastic driver side mirror (no dual flag mirrors). Truely a lightweight.
Now find some nice 6" Fuchs to add lightness. And stay away from booming stereos.

That grey and red is pretty cool, I just can't stand the brown dashboards though, it's so 80's. I'm pretty happy I held out for my Black 944, with the full black interior. I'd of been dyeing the dashboard black if I bought the white 944 with Brown/tan interior.
Is that a volt gauge to the right of the A/C control?

thnx guys. and yes it does have floor mats. i just think the dealer just had them out for the pix. they are the same color as the carpet with 924S embroidered on them. the dealership i got it from was very nice. they offered my friend and i a bottle of avion as soon as we walked in the door. the car also came with all of the maintenience from the PO, we was restoring it.
as to that quote i saw it in a faq in a buyers guide from clarks garage i think some faq somewhere and i liked it so i put it at the bottom :-P and its a temp guage that the PO put in because the cluster one had a bad ground and 'ticked'

sheis..... I'd fix the temp guage and replace the other with a volt JMHO
Bluequest... I hate my dashboard. I am thinking maybe customizing/updating it then covering with stitched leather. I hear the brown looked really exotic and luxurious when new, now it just looks like a mangy dog.

That 924S is very nice! Very distinctive. I wonder how much faster that car is than a regular 944. Being that the 924S is already faster than a 944, one with less equipment must be pretty quick for an n/a car. I'm thinking 0-60 in the low 7-second range. Of course you might not wanna try that if you like your clutch. Is it just me or does the shifter look taller than usual? That car looks llike it would be perfect for the track/autoX.
As for brown interiors- I like my brown interior. Being that my interior is in close to perfect shape and has the late-dashboard probably helps a bit, but the brown compliments the beige exterior well and gives it a nice 80's look that i like, because it matches the rest of the car's design. I admit though, my fav. interior for a 944/924/968 would be the off-white linen color seats/carpet with the black dashboard. I want my next car to have that interior. Preferably with a black 951/944S2/968 wrapped around it.

Hey, in another post you were commenting on how your front end wsa one big piece. In the pics I can tell the differentiation between the fender, front spoiler, and bumper. Or am I mistaken?

How's the dash look under that carpet? might be able to loose a couple pounds there.

RE: the brown dashboard on early cars
Well, the look is different, isn't it? I think it gives the car a nice period look... anyhow, at least the brown dash looks better than those crappy-looking four-spoke rectangle-center steering wheel that came on most 944s... give me the 3-spoker any day.
