Ufo?

Unknown Frontal Object!!!

What the heck is this "thing" in the intercooler opening? It has a painted plastic cap covering it that has circular arrows on it, and when removed it is an aluminum threaded "thing". Looking at pics of other 951's I don't see it, or maybe I just don't notice it?

with cap on.

cap removed.

Please ignore the rock chips.....

It is the front tow point. You should have a big cast eyebolt that screwes into it in your tool kit. But most cars are missing the eyebolt after all these years so you can buy a new one, they are under $15. And if you are in North America you have to buy it from one of the Porsche suppliers like Pelican, Paragon or dealer because it is a weird 19mm thread which is about impossible to find from normal hardware outfits. Or machine the thing yourself.

Insist on using the tow hook, do not let a tow truck to hook up to your front suspension

Sounds obvious,. but we get 1 or 2 cars a year that a towing company has to fix -
