Hey Guys,
Running a 85.5 944 non turbo automatic transmission. The car is in park, running and I turn the key all the ways towards me to shut off the engine. Sometimes it will cleanly shut off, but most of the time the engine will try to turn over again. It makes a fairly loud rumble noise when I turn the key off, and the front of the car rumbles for a second. Sorry, I don't know how else to describe this. Any input on the cause is much appreciated. Jim |

sounds like you may be describing 'dieseling' cause by cheap low octane gas. just a guess

Im using just "regular" gas. What should a car of this make be using for fuel? Premium?

One guy can not start the engine, and another guy can not shut off the engine. What a world!
I guess there is something wrong in your ingition key area. At first, try to replace a ingition core behind the key. |

either add a can of octane booster or fill up with premium, your prollum should go away, I 'diesel' with cheap gas, not with premium.

yep Bob, I agree, this is a gas problem. A shot of octane boost and a switch to a better grade or name brand fuel should clear this up.

It is "dieseling". There is a tsb for this requiring some wiring modifications. But it probably is a fuel problem.
If not, check the year of the turn signal relay, the superceeded part has a diode to stop alternator feedback into the igniton circuit that causes run-on |

Could leaky fuel injectors cause this problem?
