I bought a used P9201 :)

I just received in the mail a P9201 tool with the calibration bar that I purchased used. I want to thank 72widebody for the silky smooth transaction. He responded to a post I made about wanting to purchase the tool. Everything was in the exact condition that he stated and arrived right on time. By the way the condition of the tool is "perfect" with not a knick or scratch. I can now see why they charge so much for it brand new. It is nothing less than a work of art. Now I just need to figure out how to work the darn thingy. Thanks again to 72widebody.

I am having thoughts and dreams of a Great Lakes belt tensioning party in the middle of nowhere in WI

P9201 101 Intro to belt tensioning

Ok, before you you see the P9201. THe first rule of this tool is

DO NOT DROP IT

Ok, next. We need to check the proper calibration of the tool. We do this by:

1. Pulling the lockpin on the front of the tool, allowing the foot to drop to its lowest position.

2. Examine dial gauge: Notice there are 2 needles, one is a drag needle and will move when you spin the knob in the center. move drag needle to somewhere around 8 or 9 on the dial to get it out of the way.

3. Needle should be pointing at 0. if not, turn the outside face of the dial until 0 lines up with the needle.

4. Now, take the calibration bar. Put the bar on the "feet" on the rear of the tool. then slide the foot we dropped down in step 1 back up until it locks in place.

5. look at dial gauge. the needle is now pointing at a number greater than 0. Optimally, it should be pointing at 4. If it is not, you need to calibrate the tool.

6. With the bar still locked in, take a 1.5mm allen wrench and insert it in the hole on the bottom of the tool. feel around, you will find the screw.

7. turn screw until dial gauge reads "4".

8. Remove wrench, pull lockpin to drop foot, and remove calibration bar. needle should now point at "0"

9. If it does not, turn gauge face until needle points at "0" and then recalibrate.

Other hints.

The round bar on the back side of the tool goes between the teeth of the timing or balance shaft belt. the feet go on the flat side of the timing belt.

The tool is used upside down on the timing belt, right side up on the balance shaft.

Placement is critical - you put it mid way on the longest span of the belt.

Email me if you get stuck.

Two hours, 45 minutes later, we return to Z-man sitting infront of his computer...
Wait! I see three!!!!

ARRGH: only 2....

Hold on, IT'S THREE AGAIN!!

Whoppsie, back to two....

Hmm, the small voices in my head are saying there's two prongs, but I see three.

Now they are saying there's three, but I only see two now....

I think I need to schedule a visit with my therapist...
