Tire Boom Boom!

Check this out!

I knew the back right tire was going bad on my 944 because it was slowly losing air (you'd have to fill it every couple days) and all four of them were just old and dry-rotted (PO never bothered to change 'em I guess). I figured it'd be okay until next week when I'll have the money for new tires, so I took her out for a spin on Friday night - check out the results!

Guess not!!! So I'm 944-less for about 2 weeks! Nice to know the spare worked though!

Thanks, but I'm gonna go with new tires. After this experience, I'm pretty much of the opinion that used = junk.

Gordons not kidding. Even matched sets. These come off of cars that the owners put the bling-bling rims and tires on.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Well, I guess I'm willing to see / hear what you have to offer - I'm running on the cookie cutter rims right now 215 60VR 15; do you have anything in that? If so, what kind of condition are we talking about?

I refer people to reliable sources I have encountered in California over the last 40 odd years. I have been very fortunate in making so many friends out there. Call me and I will give you the info..

Yea, I sort of heard the "buzzing" that immediately precedes a tire failure on the highway so had time to slow way down and get off at the next exit. By then it had "gone" and was thump-thump-thump-ing though. I was just hoping to get to a place I could do a tire change without getting killed (the highway shoulder wasn't it) before the thing shredded. I only had to go maybe a mile. I checked the rim; it's fine (thankfully).

Anyone ever seen the spare for the new 911's? Saw one yesterday on the left rear. About three inches wide but the same diameter as the right 11" wide tire! Looked way off kilter from the rear.
