Hearing Funny Noises From The Rear End..

Hey guys..

Im hearing funny noises from the rear end every time i go over bumps or something like that with my car..

It sounds like my hatch is loose or something..but i checked..and that's certainly not the problem..

Every time i go over something that isnt smooth..i can hear a low klunk noise of sorts..

What gives?

Are you shore it isnt the Hatch?
It only needs to have some small clearence to make a small clunk sound. Grab on it firmly and try to lift/press it down, up/down. One side at a time!

Lay off the Taco Bell.

Sorry, but you opened the door. Anyway, I had two non-Taco causes to my noise. One was that the muffler would hit the heat shield when going over big bumps. The other noise was when the hatch wasn't fully closed.

If the hatch isn't loose, perhaps the hatch glass is?
It could be rear suspension, perhaps the exhaust is hitting the heat shields, or perhaps one or more of it's mounts have come off?
But it could be a number of things, perhaps a loose spare tire?

Hatch glass will have the sound of glass cracking.
Loose hatch pins/hatch will vibrate and rattle and all other sounds in between.

Clunking sound is usually a wheel bearing and or retaining nut, CV, Tranny mounts and exhaust pipes. Sman

Turned out to be my exhaust..

Come to think of it..when i first bought the car, it was rattling a little bit when the car was idling..not much..but it was rattling..

I tried moving it by hand..and ya..that's the sound i hear..

Im gonna bolt it down a bit better..

Zlatko:
You may want to check your CV joints as well: If they haven't been replaced, the grease in them is very old, and you may have some pitting on the joints, given your *ahem* driving style.

Besides the clunking sound that 924Sman stated, you may also hear a clicking or ticking sound if your CV joints are going.

No..there is no clicking..

But my friend that rode with me in the car..said that a brrrrouing sound came when i gave it a bit more gas when we were cruising in 4th at about 2k...

It's not DRAMATIC..to me, i didnt even notice anything..it sounded like a normal engine to me..like when you floor it..the engine makes obvious louder vibrations..

But..no clicking..
