how full of lube should the tranny be?

tonight i wrastled off the old fill plug to inspect the tranny lube level. it is approxomitely one cm below the fill whole. is this too low?
also, does gear lube normally smell like ass? or rotten rice or something?

How much tranny fluid do you need anyways? Im thinking about putting some Red Line in mine. Shifting when cold isnt very pleasing.

Man, that reminds me work yesterday. Chachi unplugged this guys diff. to test how full it was, see if it needed done, and the smell was so bad he reeled back into the tool rack (we still have pits, no lifts at the 'Lube!). I asked him what was up, and he hands it up to me. No joke, I almost threw up.

Customer said it was fine.

Hmm, that sounds just right for fluid level.
Supposed to be 4-6mm below the bottom of the fill plug.

I would say change the fuild. Mine smells like oil. The stuff that came out smelled a little burnt, but if it smells like ass, then somebody picked their ass too much while filling it with oil. Make sure to get all the s**t out of there, or your car will drive like ass.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

It takes 2.4L to fill. Just get 3 1L/1quart bottles and you'll be just fine.
It's listed as 2.2L, but mine took 2.4-2.5L.
