944 computer location

Is the computer located under the pass floor on all 944 na's ??

I am looking at a 944 that has a serious leak on the pass floor side and I am concerned that it may have damaged the computer.

But I could not find the computer !!

I tried doing a search on pelican but no luck so far.

-Thanks for any help

Don

i assume you mean the DME? The early cars have the DME under the driver's dash, the later ones have them on the passenger side.

Thanks, and yes I think what I am talking about is the DME.

I think the car is an early 944 as it has separate gauges.

So it looks like the DME is under the drivers dash.

JUst out of curiosity is the later DME than under the dash on the pass side or on the floor ?

Pull back the carpet on the passenger floorboard. It should be velcroed onto a piece of waferboard type material. I recall four phillips screws holding this chunk of wood in place. Remove the 4 screws to remove the wood, which will give you access to the DME.

Wow, That is pretty rusty !!!! This one I am looking at is very rust free, I knocked the accumalated leaves off the battery compartment shelf and it looks like new.

Some cover or part has been removed from the center of the firewall , it has left a 6 inch hole in the horizontal surface of the fire wall near the windshield. I don't know what was there previously it may have been part of the heating/cooling system.

This may be where the rain water is coming from that soaked the pass side floor.

My battery box 'looked' good but there was a shoddy repair over the top. In the very least I would put some seam sealer in there just to be sure. If you are more ambitious, Por-15 is excellent. Never have the problem again.

What you are missing is the fan assembly for fresh air I think. You should be able to pick one up used for beans.
