I need your expert advice please.
When I start my S2 I am now getting a strange top-end noise from around the cylinder head towards No.4 cylinder. It started by making a tinkle noise then a rattle and now it is making a clack.....clack.....clack.....clack.....clack..... clack.....clack.....noise. It is getting louder every time I start the car. Do you think it could be the camshaft tensioner (kettenspanner 944 105 049 01) I do not want to run the engine too long in case it is causing damage, but I am asking myself if it is not the hydraulic tappets due to low oil pressure because the car has been standing. What do you think? Many thanks, Philippe |

Pull the valve cover and take a hard look! Might be the tensioner. Might be a loose cam bearing block. Might be a broken cam.
