Angry starter motor grrrrinding

Damn i hate this starter motor.
This thing is about 10 months old (its a rebuilt) and its been grinding occasionally. I took it off tonight
no debris near the fywheel. the flywheel teeth i can see look fine (likewise for the starter motor teeth)
Could this be a bad switch in the starter motor that i could replace?
Also, i noticed a fair amount of gunk in the starter motor. Could a leaky rear main be leaking on the starter motor causing it to slip?
If i have broken flywheel teeth, i would be able to see them, right?

Any suggestions are welcome

You'll have to spin the motor around to check for missing teeth on the flywheel.

Chances are, you have a bad bearing in the starter - will mean another rebuild
