since the 944 runs fine
I will ask you guys a question about a 928. I figured someone might know. I would obviously ask it at the 928 forum, but I did and nobody responded after a week. I just got the car and drove it 80 miles and the car was fine. Next day I drove about 5 and radiator fluid leaks slightly. Maybe it was an overflow and there was too much not sure. Biggest problem is I must have opened the hood 10 times since last week to inspect the oil/filter and fluid levels while car was idling and off. Now I can not open the hood! I pull the release and it does not release. Any ideas? I want to clean it up and inspect for the fluids. I appreciate all responses. TIA

You should be able to get to the latch from under the front end - you may have to take a few pieces off, but it isn't all that hard.
928 with coolant leak......OUCH! Find out where it is leaking - you do not want these motors to overheat. Check the hoses, and the expansion tank - the center "hole" on the expansion ta\nk tends to leak a bit - usually not worth fixing. Pray it is not your radiator = $$$$$$$ AFJuvat

Thank you for responding. I will take a look at it and see if I can get to it. It must be jammed because when I pull the release it feels like there is still tension and it actually returns to the original position. It must be the actual mechanism under the hood. I think it was the overflow because i have driven it a few times since and there is no leak and the engine runs solid and cool. Thanks again

You must be into S&M... no pain-hating man would get a 928 that has problems already.
I hear you can use socks to fix anything on a 928, though

The car was given to me for free, that is why I have it. Definitley needs some TLC, but it is a nice looking car.

Yeah free is nice, but I have not determined yet if I will keep it or put money into them (I also have a 944) or sell them both and buy something that is 100% ready to daily drive. My father owned them both and moved across country and left these two Porsches to me- that is how I ended up with them.

check all the small coolant lines from the resivoir to the coolant/t-stat housing. chech the small line from the rad to the housing , runs along the right front engine bay. run the car to temp, shut it off , let it sit for 5 min and then move some of the lines around and check for evedence of leaks. is there still pressure under that cap when the engine is cold.

If you want to get rid of them, let me know, I'll even let you make a profit on them
How's a nice crisp twenty sound?
