I don't know 912's that well, but weren't they a unibody? How do you do a frame off resto on a unibody?

I believe they are a unibody like a VW beetle is a unibody, that is, they have floor pans with a belly gasket etc.

"Frame off restoration" has pretty much lost its original meaning and is now used colloquially to denote any full restoration.

Actually, unlike the old "bugs" on the 923/912E you cant separate the body from the chasis...
