Removing nose panel?
How the hell do you remove the nose panel?!
I want to change my emblem but after removing the screws and the bolts hidden under the pop-ups, the panel still seems to be held by invisible bolts of some kind...and it's damn near impossible to reach the emblem from the bottom of the car...has anyone else had this problem? thanks

"On early model 944s, the nose panel is spot welded in place" - do you think this could be the case with my car? it's a 924S

If there are 4 screws along the top lip, it is not the case. If there are no screws, but about 8-10 dimples, then it's spot-welded.
If it's screwed on, on some cars, there are 2 screws that hold it to the front nose inner structure, where the intercooler would mount on a 951. They are a pain in the a** to reach, and AFAIK, serve no usefull purpose. I most certainly did not re-install those screws when I re-installed my nose panel. To find them, pop the headlights up, and look towards the center of the nose panel through the hole left by the headlights. I actually had to remove the headlights to get at the screws with the screwdriver I was using, which was alright, since they were going to come out anyways.

Ummm, on 944's you don't need to remove the nose panel to get to the emblem. You very gently use a putty knife to pry it up. I don't know if it's the same on a 924s but I would think it would be...

When I replaced mine, I jusy pryed around the edges of the emblem and it lifted out of the 2 mounting brackets. The 2 brackets are like hard clay packed into the holes and you just puch the emblem into the clay and that holds the emblem down. It's the same on my dads 71 911, that's why I can't imagine they would change it for the 924s, I could be very wrong though....just my .02......

I'm trying to take my nose panel off, the four screws visible immediately when you open the hood are no problem, but how in the world do I get the ones under the rubber seal thing when you pop the headlights up? They aren't even screws, it's some sort of bolt...
somebody help me :-\ |

Front header panel removal
There are actually four fasteners on each side that you can access from the headlight area. The two that are along the bottom are 8mm nuts and they only need to be loosened three or four turns. The phillips screws that are up near where the intercooler would be on a turbo need to be taken completely out. Then the two 10mm coarse thread bolts that go on the ends into the fenders taken completely out and it should pull straight forward off.

You need to remove the rubber gasket in front of the headlight in the
lip of the valance. The easiest way is to use a blunt screw driver and push down on the gasket and pry it out from underneath starting from one end. then you will see the 2 10mm in the very tip of the panel. 2 8mm at each end where the headlight opening is, 2 philips that are under the center part where the intercooler would nount and of coarse the 4 philips that are across the top.
