adding rear wiper?
Hi,
I would like to add a rear wiper to my '88 NA that never had one from the factory. I have a used motor, arm, and switch. It appears that there should be some wiring in a tube on the hatch that I don't have, what I would like to know is if there is anything else I will need to source - i.e. is the wiring in the body harness the same for cars with and without the rear wiper or is there a separate harness that I will need to find. thanks, nate

Dont know the specific differences of an 88 (if there are any) however, BTDT. Found a donor at Ecology in SFS, CA.
Total was less than $50 including the switch, motor, arm, etc..

I'd be willing to take the plug for the rear glass off your hands if you want to be rid of it... PM me if you are interested.

Well, here in MD it's the rainy season seeminlgly most of the year... seems that a decent amount of the time that I'm in the car the inside mirror is completely useless as the rear window is covered by something or other (and at the angle of the window, it doesn't take much rain/snow to render it useless)

hey Seaboltman... if you're in Balto feel free to drop me a line if you need a place to do any minor work on your car while you're up here... I have a friend in Arnold that lets me use his garage every now and then (don't count on it too often though, he doesn't like those darn furrin' cars - he just indulges me 'cause I help him work on his Studebakers)
anyway... anyone tell me whether the wiring is in the body or not? Still haven't had a chance to look for myself, car is currently stuck up on the lift at aforementioned friend's place - I decided to do some PM on the car (replace driver's side axle - still chasing a high speed vibration - change tranny oil, repack my front wheel bearings and replace my brake hoses) yesterday and I couldn't find my 11mm flare wrench so I borrowed his pickup thinking I'd pick one up, go back today and finish the job... woke up this AM and there's 2" of snow in front of my house and it's just warm enough it could easily turn to ice if it cools off... not a Good Thing if that happens while I'm out, I have visions of dogs destroying the house then starving to death... ![]() I guess if the wiring is in the body back to the top of the hatch I can just look up the color codes for the wiring in the little tube and run my own, but if I need an auxiliary harness, I'd rather look for it now before I start into the job... nate
