Idle questions

hey everybody!!!
quick question, my car idles at 1200 rpm and whenever i gas it up to 2k rpm, it takes a while for the engine to go back to idle....maybe about 5-8 seconds, sometimes even staying at 2k rpm for that time before going back to idle......what could be the problem?
thanks again.......

is your throttle cable too tight? The throttle body might not be clicking back to the closed position. Try just loosening the throttle cable just a little.
