Sears sucks
Had a flat on my '84. Tire size: 215/45R17. Not an endangered species. Call Sears because I have a gift card burning a hole in my wallet. "Yes, Sir, we have 4 of those in stock".
"Well, I only want 2 right now. So it's no problem?" "No problem at all Sir. Come by before 7 and we'll get those on for ya." "Perfect. Be there in a few." Here's where the story takes a horrid twist. They take off my wheels, dismount the tires and then a lull in the action ensues. I figured it must be break time. 30 min later, a tech comes up to me and sez "Sorry, we don't have that size in stock." "But I called. you said you had 4. None isn't quite as many as 4, and not near as many as I want." "yeah, well the computer sez we have 4. We don't have any. Don't know how long it'll take till we get em in" "You need to find where your computer hid them. How am I getting to work? Why did you tell me you have and you are definately a have not?" It went down hill from there. That was monday. Now it's thur. Probably not going to be here untill Wed. I'm pissed. I will deficate in front of thier garage bay, you mark my words.

I agree - you should know what to expect when taking your car there - for ANYTHING.
My sister recently bought two tires from tirerack.com and set an appointment for Sears to mount them on her car. It was about $20 total to do this. When dropping her car off, she mentioned to them that the tires (to mount) were in her trunk............ She picks the car up about an hour later with the brand new tires installed. A few days later she opened the trunk and viola!......her brand new tires were STILL in her trunk! They essentially gave her a new tire set for $20. Sometimes you win easy ![]()

Hahahaha, that's a good one! I would have had them remount the old tires, and give you a call when the new ones come in, so you still have something to drive around. If the old ones were going flat, have them fixed (at their expense) so you can get around until the new ones come in.

Sears is a fine place to buy batteries and wrenches, but that's about it.

I made the mistake of having them put tires on my first car, my 68 Mustang. Had more problems with sears than I care to talk about. It took them 5 times to get the balance and alignment correct and then I come to find out they installed THE WRONG TIRE on my car. I was so pissed. I will never ever go back to sears for tires. I was young and stupid though, now I'm just stupid HAHA!

The bling on the 84 finally caught up to you, eh? Just poking fun Todd. The Roebuck side of Sears needs to step up.

I bought a pair of lighted mechanics gloves from Sears that are pretty cool, but I don' think I would go past buying anything more than Craftsman tools

It's fairly appropriate that K-Mart and Sears are merging.
