I NEED HELP GUYS! - 951 has NO Wastegate!...and other stuff... Advice, Part Sources?

I need advice fast.

The 951 I bought from 951Fevr has - get this - NO, as in None, nada, zip... wastegate in it! It ain't there! The upstream flange is there, but it was welded shut with a large flat washer/hex nut combo believe it or not! The downstream side is just open to the air! Doesn't that mean that exhaust gas was just dumping out the downstream side after having gone throughthe cat? SOme went through the muffler I am sure, but most took path of least resistance and dumped under the car.

How is this possible? How could the car run? I don't claim to understand turbo plumbing, but where did the boost go when it wasn't going into the cylinders? Isn't it likely a mod like that caused the turbocharger to fail? Oh well, you buy a non-running car, you take your chances -and by the way, it does run now.

Where to buy a wastegate? Price to expect?

I checked out Ian's Online, he wanted over $1400!!! Anyone have a stock, useable wastegate they can give me a deal on? Can/should stock units be "rebuilt" or otherwise made good when old? I couldn't reach our host, Parts Heaven, George B/944Ecology, or Oklamhoma Foreign - all closed. Anyone have a source? Your help/advice is really needed and fast.

Second problem. The fuel lines are cracked and crappy and I don't need a (nother) fire. Source for fuel lines? Our host? I didn't see them in the catalog, I'll double check. Rennbay has a set including the "jumper" for a little over $100. Suggestions/advice?

Third, one of the fuel injectors has NO clip holding it in. Isn't THAT a prescription for an engine fire? Do I have to buy them in sets of four? Should I for any reason? I have a set of stock injectors that are clean and appear to be in good condition off the 'European Car' 951, I will swap to those should I re-use the ones I have or are new necessary/safe? Yes, I oughta have them sonically cleaned/balanced...but I have bigger fish to fry right now. I'll come back to that.

Last and of much less importance. The crusise control cable is shot, the oil filer cap and dipstick are both a little "toasty" from a previous minor engine fire Our host? Anyone have spares to get ride of?

Sorry for the length, your help really appreciated....sitting by the laptop waitnig to hear from you guys - Dan

Sounds like an interesting hack job.

1. The car will run without the wastegate and all the other exhausts leaks ...........No boost...........and runs like ****. I want to see pics of the underside...... <--- morbid curiosity

2. You can get steel braided lines for the fuel lines. I thought lindsey or SFR had those for your application.

3. Invest in a Tial wastegate ~300-400 bucks .........much better option than the factory.

4. Go ahead an use the european mags used injectors.... just use new o-rings if you can and check the condition of the hats. THe clips are not really a big issue The injectors will hold in place.......but for peace of mind get a set. On modified turbos running aftermarket injectors it is common to leave the clips off.

Alex, CT944 - Thanks for the prompt response. Found a wastegate here on Pelican - if its still available - for $75 also, sent a PM, waiting.

Tial, huh? I'll invest the money if it gives me something, what advantage? More reliable?, performance? other? By the way, SFR, Lindsey for the Tial?

I'll check Lindsey and SFR for the braided stainless lines too, thanks.

I'd feel better with the clips, absolutely yes on the new O rings. Not familiar with the term "hats". I assume it is the top or head of the injector...what to look for? Cracks, other?

The hats are the little plastic things that you pop off when you replace the orings... As far as the clips holding the injectors in place, it only sounds bad... ;P As long as the 4 rail bolts are in place, the injectors aren't going anywhere...

Thanks Brad. Ordered fuel lines from Lindsey. Bought a used Lindsey dual outlet wastegate from Pablo. Ordered four injector O ring seal kits from our host along with some misc body seals for the door handles and rear cargo lock cylinder. More to come.

Anyone have those clips they'd like to get rid of for cheap?

Consensus of opinion seems to be that the hack job of no wastegate oversped the turbo and ruined it ...and probably contributed (caused?) the engine to require rebuild. Thing is, whoever did this rebuilt it and left it with no wastegate so it was only going to happen again, right?! Hope I am in time. "New" wastegate being installed. Looking for used wastegate outlet pipe now...anyone?
