951? or something else

I have an 83 944 and just got out of school. I have a good job now and need a good reliable car. I love the idea of a 951 but have never driven one. Should I look into other cars also? I have about 8-10K to spend. What do you guys think!!

I am moving to DC and will be driving a bit in traffic but mostly take the metro to work!

I'm in the same situation sorta...I'm debating between a 951 or an early '80s 911

Both cars have there ups and downs but the 951 is most def faster

Well it depends on how much you like your 944. If you love it, the 951 is a 944, but better. So its all your call. If you want something you can carry stuff/people in, might want to look at a used 4 door or something. All depends on what you need in a car. If you dont need anything but A-B transportation and want to have some fun, look at the 951. Just remember that if you need something with more cargo space/seating capacity or otherwise, that you havent been able to get out of your 944, your not goign to get it out of the 951.

Cruising around town, in traffic....I would buy an S2. The fact that it's normally aspirated makes it easier to drive at low revs, 2nd gear take offs etc etc. In a city, there isn't enough room to stretch a 951s legs. That's what back country roads are for....haha

What Will944 said, the high gears in the 951 would be a pain in the city. An S2 would be superior for city driving (I've had both cars).

I recently heard from a friend w/ a lightly modded 951, that a 924s was uncatchable at a lapping event (my friend is a good driver too), it turned out that the guy had an S2 or 968 motor in the 924S, -I'm told those are very-very fast. Just watch the classifieds, S2 motor are fs all the time.
