New 951 - Wiring Behind Glovebox- Pix/Questions
I was swapping out the glovebox door and decided to pull the glovebox itself. I found a few "electrical surprises" behind it!
See the two spade connectors hanging down from the top? They appear to be factory all the way, still tied off as unused from the factory. Also the white connector. It was tucked neatly in a coil of factory wire right where it is in this photo. What are they for? I assume some option that was not on this car, but what would that have been in '86? ![]() Next, What is that vent hose for on the left running to the glovebox? It's about 1-1/4" diameter. My NA has a black snout connected to it in the glovebox. Is it just to ventilate the glove box? If so, why do you need to? Also, did you see the little kill switch in there? I assume that's what it is, I also assume this is some aftermarket atttempt at anti-theft control. Haven't tested it yet, sun was going down when I shot these pix ![]() ![]() Last picture: What is that light for? The clock? I took out the cigarette lighter and there is no provision for the light to attach to it, though my '87 NA lighter DOES light up at night. If it connects to the clock, how do I get the clock out to install it? Is there a plastic shroud or something missing that encases both lighter and clock so one light serves them both?
